The Bose remote is an important part of the Bose experience. You can listen to music and control it from the comfort of your couch using a single remote. However, if you’re having trouble with your Bose remote or notice its battery is dying, there are some easy steps you can take to get it working again.
Why Is My Bose Remote Not Working?
There are many reasons why a Bose remote may not be working properly. The most common reason is that the batteries in your remote have lost their charge, and need to be replaced. If you’ve tried this, and it still doesn’t work, then there are other things to consider.
First, make sure that your remote is paired with your system. If there’s no light on the bottom of the remote when pressing buttons or turning on/off functions, then it’s possible that they aren’t paired properly. Check out this article for more information on how to pair remotes with different models: [link]
If replacing batteries didn’t fix your problem, and you’re sure that everything else looks good, then try charging up both devices overnight and see if they will work together again in the morning. It’s possible one side is just drained while being used normally throughout the day.
Check The Batteries
Before you do anything else, make sure that the batteries are installed correctly, and that you’re using the right type of remote batteries in the first place.
If you’re having trouble getting your remote to work, it could be because the batteries are low or that they have been installed incorrectly. Replacing them is a simple step that can save you a lot of frustration.
Also, make sure that your new batteries are fresh and fully charged. If they’ve been sitting around for some time, it’s possible they need replacing before they’ll work properly again.
Batteries have an expiration date (usually printed on their packaging) and will eventually stop working if not replaced regularly; refer to instructions included with your remote for information about how often this should happen.
If there aren’t any instructions included with yours when you purchase it yet, feel free then go ahead now, so we don’t waste any more time trying things out without knowing where this came from, since there’s nothing wrong with giving yourself some extra room for error.
Check If It Needs to Be Paired with Your System
You may have a problem with the remote itself. This happens if the battery has run out, and it isn’t turning on. In that case, you’ll need to replace it or take it to an authorized Bose service center.
If your remote is still working but not pairing with your system, there could be an issue with how they’re communicating with each other.
Check if they are paired together by pressing and holding down one of the buttons on the remote until all of its lights start blinking rapidly (usually around 15 seconds).
If this doesn’t work right away, try checking for any obstructions between them and move closer to see if that helps. If nothing has worked so far, contact Bose support for further assistance.
Is Your System is Receiving Power?
When the remote control is not working, it’s a good idea to check whether your system is receiving power or if there is any other possible reason for the remote not working.
First, check that all cables are securely plugged into the components of your Bose home theater system.
Second, make sure that the power cord is plugged into an outlet and that both ends are properly secured without any stress on them. If you have an older model of Bose Home Theater System with a separate receiver box and speakers (which connects via RCA cables), then unplug those connections as well and reconnect them to ensure they’re secure.
Third, make sure that the remote control batteries are fresh and inserted correctly in their slot at the backside of your remote control device.
This is usually indicated by an arrow pointing up toward where you should insert each battery; if one or more batteries are missing from this slot or incorrectly inserted/placed here, then this may be why your Bose remote isn’t working.
Are the Buttons Damaged?
If your remote’s buttons aren’t functioning properly, that is a good sign that the problem lies in the remote itself. If the buttons are damaged or broken, you will have to replace them—you can do this by taking apart your remote and replacing each button individually. If you have no luck with this, however, then it may be time to replace your entire remote.
Regardless of whether you need to replace anything inside your device itself, if any of its buttons are not working correctly, then chances are high that it will not work for long term use.
It is important to remember that Bose products last for years and years; however, if even one button on a remote stops working efficiently, then it could mean trouble ahead for other components within a few months’ time as well.
Did You Accidentally Lock the Remote?
If your Bose remote’s not responding, try pressing and holding the Mode button for about 3 seconds. The remote will beep twice and the light will flash twice. You can now use the remote again.
If you’re still having trouble with your Bose remote, check to see if it’s locked by pressing and holding Mode until the status LED flashes three times (it helps to count out loud).
This means that your remote is unlocked but needs to be paired again before you can use it. In this case, press Play/Pause on the back of your controller until both lights are solid green (30 seconds).
Program the Remote to Control Other Devices
If your remote is not working, it may be because of a problem with the pairing. To fix this problem:
- > Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds
- > Press and release the power button three times
If you have followed these steps correctly but are still having problems with your remote, don’t worry—you can fix it. Just follow these simple instructions:
- Turn off any devices in range of your remote that might cause interference (i.e., wireless routers, microwaves, etc.)
- Hold down both volume + or – buttons on your Bose system until you hear two beeps from each speaker; then release
Replace Your Bose Remote Control With A Universal Remote
If you’ve tried every solution and have found yourself in the undesirable position of having a Bose remote control that won’t work, the best thing to do is replace it with a universal remote.
Universal remotes are designed to be compatible with different types of electronics, which allows them to control various functions on different products and brands.
Not only are these remotes easier to use and understand than their conventional counterparts, but they also come with an array of features such as macros that make device management simpler and faster.
Most universal remotes are able to better maintain device settings than the original Bose remote controls.

How Do I Reset My Bose Remote?
Resetting a Bose remote can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! With the right instructions, you can easily reset your remote so that it’s ready for use with the device of your choice.
First, you’ll need to access the control unit menu on the device. Once that step is completed, locate and press the same button combination that you used to program the remote in the first place.
If you originally used a code from a list provided by Bose, this should be easy to do. Finally, press any key on the remote for a few seconds and it will reset back to its original factory settings. After this process is finished, your Bose remote should be fully operational and ready to use with your device.
How Do I Test My Bose Remote?
Testing your Bose remote is a great way to keep the components of your Bose system working at their best. First, check that all sources are connected and powered on.
If any devices can not be powered on, reset them first. Next, make sure your batteries are fresh and inserted correctly in the remote.
Finally, test each button individually; press each down firmly for a second or two and check to see if the device responds as expected.
If any buttons do not work properly, first use canned air or a soft brush to clean off dirt and dust build-up around the buttons before trying again. If the problem still persists after cleaning it, replace it with an original Bose replacement remote.
Summary
If you have just purchased a Bose system, it’s worth checking the batteries in the remote. Remote controls often lose their charge and need to be replaced with new ones. If this doesn’t solve your problem, then try cleaning the sensor on the bottom of your remote control or replacing the battery again.
